Blood Spirits
by Sherwood Smith
Daw, $24.95, 488pp
Release Date: September 6, 2011

Blood Spirits is a sequel to Coronets and Steel. After deciding to do the right thing for Dobreica and returning to the US , Kim took a job teaching languages at a college in Oklahoma . When she returns home for winter, Kim finds everyone has gone to London . Turns out that the magic didn't work. So Kim goes back to Dobreica to help. But this trip becomes even more dangerous. She was prepared to deal with the personal conflict and politics. What she didn't expect was murder, mystery and the very chilly presence of the undead.

Coronets and Steel is a great urban fantasy and I expected volume two to come to the same standard. It exceeded the standard and raised the bar. This is a winner in the urban fantasy competition. Loved it. Am collecting them, and can only say: Keep writing Ms. Smith. I'll be waiting for the next volume like a very hungry vulture. ~~ Pam Allan
