This is by the author of Afterlife.
Madaline MacFaddin writes magical stories and had spent happy summers in Ticonderoga Falls growing up. She has no memory of the dark parts, but she believes that something lives in the woods. She knows nothing of the legend that holds the residents captive. She has no memories of Ash who saved her as a child despite the need of his kind to prey on humans
She returns to the Falls when her life falls apart. Divorced with a young son and her dog just in time for the Harvest... the time to feast. But though she has put her dreams and soul in danger, the harvest has magic she can tap, and she has powers she doesn't know about. She also has Ash.
This is a fascinating book. It has the feel at times, of a young adult but is for all ages. A supernatural romance with a tiny touch of Stephen King, but she has her own, non-derivative, voice, with great world building, beautifully developed characters that grow in context. It has action that is not too scary, and romance that is not too graphic so the younger readers can enjoy it. I am going to keep this one and try to find a copy of Afterlife. ~~.Pam Allan
