Water to Burn starts almost immediately after the events of License to Ensorcell.
Nola O’Grady is again drawn into the battle between Chaos and Order, this time searching for the mysterious Brother Belial who may be a being from another dimension. Someone is using the
Pacific Ocean
as a murder weapon and Nola fears her brother-in-law may be involved. We also learn more about her partner Ari’s past when we learn more about the crazy Rabbi who headed the kibbutz Ari grew up in and his mysterious link to Nola’s missing father. Then there is Michael’s plan to rescue his girlfriend from one of the deviant dimensions, Nola’s brother-in-law’s involvement with a conman searching for Sir Francis Drake’s treasure (a con man that may be much more than he seems), her eating disorder and the growing relationship between Nola and Ari, with its attendant disagreements, and the general oddness of Nola’s family all of which makes for a quick, fun and satisfying read that will leave you wanting even more of Nola’s adventures.
