Daughter of the Sword
by Steve Bein
Roc, $16.00, 455pp
Release Date: October 2, 2012
This debut novel is the beginning of The Fated Blades

Mariko Oshiro is the only female detective with the Tokyo Police and she is not part of the good old boys network. But destiny and a murderous sword called Beautiful Singer, change all plans.

The blade seeks life blood. Mariko must stop it and she is not trained in swordwork. She must die trying if that is fate.

What a wonderful mixture of Japanese history and culture combined with Asian police procedural. Marik's sword has several more stories to tell. I want to read them; all the characters and action demand it. ~~ Pam Allan
