Grave Secrets is the first in the Deadtime Stories series from the Cascone sisters.
Amanda Peterson hits the winning home run but no one celebrates as the ball lands inside the property owned by scary witch “Barnsey.” Amanda retrieves the ball but Barnsey catches her. Amanda screams and her friends pull her back over the fence but, even though Barnsey let go, Amanda has lost a precious bracelet. Fearing that the witch will use the bracelet to cast a spell on Amanda, she and her friends Laura Baxter, Kevin Stewart and Jarrad Clark search in Amanda’s yard, where they find a dead squirrel. While burying the squirrel in Amanda’s pet cemetery the kids accidently uncover a buried doll that unleashes an evil that makes Barnsey seem tame. Will they be able to save themselves? And will they be able to save Amanda’s little sister?
My neighbor’s 12-year-old daughter is just getting interested in spooky books and it held her interest. I also read it and the book held my interest as well. Recommended for fans, young and older, of G.L Stine and Christopher Pike. ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
