Deadtime Stories: Little Magic Shop of Horrors
by Annette and Gina Cascone
Starscape, $14.99, 192pp
Release Date: September 4, 2012
Peter Newman enters the school’s talent competition because he really wants the grand prize of a twenty-one-speed mountain bike. He figures he can win if he can just come up with a talent of some kind. Then he and his best friend see an ad for the Little Magic Shop of Horrors. Positive he can find something there, Peter and Bo rush over to the shop. Sure enough, for the paltry sum of $9.95 Peter gets a magic kit. Calling himself “Peter the Great” he finds he can do all sorts of tricks but unfortunately he cannot undo them. This is not too much of a worry until Peter wins the talent contest by removing Bo’s head!

Aimed at readers 8 and older these are great stories, just scary enough but not so much to give nightmares. A worthy addition to the series. Recommended. - Stephanie L Bannon
