The Eye of God
Sigma Force #9
by James Rollins
William Morrow, $27.99, 410pp
Release Date: June 5, 2013
Have you read James Rollins? Then I'm preaching to the converted here. If you haven't read Rollins this is as good an introduction to the ultra-high tech government group called Sigma Force as there is.
This is another supersonic thriller featuring hair's-breadth, clever escapes and just plain weird stuff! Business as usual and I love it! This time they have to save the world from a comet that is dragging a NEO (near Earth object), the asteroid Apophis into a collision course with the planet. And there's of course, a very tight deadline and a wrinkle in space/time that really has put a spanner in the works. It’s awesome!
And oh, Genghis Khan is involved and
St. Thomas
(of Doubting Thomas fame) and dark energy. Our regular band of heroes are here: Gray and Painter Crowe and Rachel and her uncle Vigor and Kowalski and Seichan. We are introduced to two new characters, Jada and Duncan.
This novel just zooms along and you can barely catch your breath as you are flung from one wild adventure to another. We travel to
North Korea
,
Mongolia
, Macau and
Lake
Baikal
.
And the ending---as usual---has some very interesting moments. ~~ Sue Martin
