Kavika lives in Sargasso City, a floating city of ships, barges and other sea faring vessels tied together off the coast of what used to be known as California. The population is composed of survivors of the Cull, a plague that wiped out everyone with O-Negative blood. Each district is separated along ethnic lines. The Pali Boys are descendants of Hawaiian warriors who perform impossible stunts to test their manhood. Faced by a conspiracy of murder and blood attack, Kavika seeks to save everyone from an unknown enemy.
This is part of the Afterblight series so I am guessing that since this is the first books in the series I’ve read that there are some details concerning the overall world that I am missing; like how the world became so backwards in just 20 years. That said, the setting of a floating city is interesting and we see Kavika finding allies and making enemies as he seeks to solve the murder mystery. The action is fast-paced pulling the reader along on an action-packed adventure until the very end. ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
