Kara and Kelly were teenage twin sisters who came to The Big Apple. Kelly the nurse stayed; Kara the secretary bit into a worm, moved back to their home town, and became a writer. Ten years later, Kelly is leading a terrible double-life that turns deadly, and a grief-stricken Kara comes back to the City That Never Sleeps to unearth what possessed her beloved sister to do what she did. It would be bad enough if all Kara had to do was find and face Kelly’s demons, but dealing with a ghastly murder means that she comes face to face with the one person she never wanted to ever see again: Detective Rob Harris. Seven years ago, Kara had decided she couldn’t bear the thought of being married to a guy whose job would have her wondering every day, “Am I a widow yet?” And Rob could no more turn his back on his work than Kara could resign herself to fearful domesticity.
