World's End
Pendulum #3
by Will Elliott
Tor, $26.99, 432pp
Published: March 2016

Luckless journalist Eric Albright and his friend Stuart Casey stumbled through a battered red door under a railway bridge and into another world. The world of Levall is ruled by Lord Vous, a mad ruler who has become a god.  The fall of the great wall which divided the land has set loose a horde of Tormentors while dragons are stirring in their prisons hoping to steal humanity’s world.

Eric and Aziel, Vous's daughter, have been convinced by Shilen, a dragon in human form, to help free the dragons from their prisons by promising them power and safety for their friends. However, Shilen, like the other dragons, ultimately wishes to control all humans while the mysterious haiyens claim to be able to bring peace between the dragons and humans. And what role will the mysterious Shado play as Levall faces the ultimate battle in this age-old war between worlds and ancient forces.

This is a great trilogy though this is perhaps the weakest entry. The end came somewhat quickly but overall this was an enjoyable read. ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
