Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, doesn’t care much for witches. Still, he’s about to make nice with the local coven by signing a mutually beneficial nonaggression treatywhen suddenly the witch population in modern-day Tempe, Arizona, quadruples overnight. And the new girls are not just bad, they’re badasses with a dark history on the German side of World War II.
With a fallen angel feasting on local high school students, a horde of Bacchants blowing in from Vegas with their special brand of deadly decadence, and a dangerously sexy Celtic goddess of fire vying for his attention, Atticus is having trouble scheduling the witch hunt. But aided by his magical sword, his neighbor’s rocket-propelled grenade launcher, and his vampire attorney, Atticus is ready to sweep the town and show the witchy women they picked the wrong Druid to hex.
Hexed starts almost immediately after the events of Hounded in which Atticus killed not one, but two gods. Since then, various people, among them Atticus’ lawyer Lief, have approached Atticus in an attempt to recruit him in the killing of other gods, especially Thor. Those requests are put on a back burner when a new group of witches come to town with the goal of killing Atticus and the Sisters of Three Auroras coven who had agreed to a non-aggression pact with him. Coyote also stops by asking Atticus’ help to deal with a fallen angel with the unfortunate habit of eating high school students. Then, to complicate matters even further, a bunch of followers of Bacchus come to town wreaking deadly havoc in local clubs. Not to mention the goddess of fire is popping in to seduce Atticus. He will have to make some interesting deals in order to eliminate the new witches before they kill him.
This is a page turner, the reader is swept into the action from the beginning. I suspect this is a series that really requires reading all the books in order since the action of this book stems directly from the actions in the first. I am looking forward to book three. ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
