So we come to Ragnarok.  While Atticus takes care of the main action Granuaile is off to Taiwan to battle at the side of the Monkey King and Owen flits between Europe and Peru putting out smaller fires. There is a massive battle in Scandinavia as some gods fall in the battle against Loki and Hel and Atticus pays a heavy price for his past transgressions. 

I almost did not pick this one up to read having read so many reviews saying Mr Hearne should have stopped with the previous book. The objections of most of those reviews were that the characters did not act true to character but if readers were actually paying attention to the development of the characters over the past few books it is entirely logical. Atticus finally is getting a clue about just how inexcusable many of his past choices were and is maybe starting to mature a bit intellectually to match his great physical age. Again we have reference to events that happened outside the scope of the actual Iron Druid series since we have a new character and a new dog that, in terms of this series, just seems to appear with little to no explanation. Overall, however, it is a satisfying conclusion to the series. ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
