Junkyard Bargain
Junkyard Cats #2
by Faith Hunter
Lore Seekers Press, $9.99 PB, $3.99 Kindle, 160pp
Published: May 9, 2023

Sometimes—before you can face your enemies—you need to confront yourself.

Time is running out for Shining Smith and her crew to rescue one of their own. But will they even make it to the ultimate battle? First, they’ll need to hit the road to Charleston to gather weapons—a hell ride full of bandits, sex slavers, corrupt lawmen, and criminal bike gangs looking to move in on Shining’s territory.

Shining’s human allies will do anything to protect her—because they must. But will victory be worth it if she is forced to compel more and more people to do her bidding? And will her feline warriors, the junkyard cats, remain loyal and risk their lives? Or are they just in it for the kibble?

Following the events of Junkyard Cats, Shining Smith is prepping for a trip to Charleston to gather supplies and weapons, in particular a massive, game-changing weapon hidden by Matteo. On the trip to Charleston, Shining and Cupcake, along with a group of cats led by Spy, run into armed men trying to take them captive. Even in Charleston along with some luxury time they still have to deal with gangs, sex slavers, corrupt lawmen, dishonest dealers and politics between the rival motorcycle groups - Shining’s Outlaw Militia Warriors, possible allies, Old Man Marconi’s chapter of the Hell’s Angels  and the corrupt Mara Salvatrucha who wants to absorb them all.

Another quick satisfying read. A nice balance between character building and action. We are building to a climax in the next book even as we learn more about our characters and the world they live in. And intelligent cats, I can’t express how much I love these cats.  Highly recommended. ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
