Another great middle book of a series. Golden definitely has the ability to structure her story since she gets lots of practice writing for Hollywood. I simply loved this.
Kane Ravenswood, the gorgeous hunky...broody king of Onyx has fallen for Arwen who has become the official healer in Shadowhold castle. He’s finally bared his soul to her and their romance heats up at last. Arwen and Kane, along with Kane s steadfast commander Griffin, Arwens brother and sister, Ryder and Leigh, and Arwens best friend Mari who has begun utilizing her witchcraft/ magic to greater and greater purpose have sailed off to the undersea kingdom of Citrine to hopefully strike an allegiance with the kingdom to confront Kane’s father Lazarus, who along with Arwen is the last of the pure fae.
Citrine is a lovely and fascinating place, though hard to reach without the correct magic. And here our doughty crew meet the even-tempered and seriously delightful Prince Fredrik who has it bad for Arwen which twists Kane’s growing fierce-hearted love for her.
But first they still have to find The Blade of the Sun…the only thing that will kill Lazarus and bring peace to the kingdoms of Evendell. And the adventures to discover its whereabouts are intense and fast-paced.
It’s wonderful to see how the relationships grow and solidify as they struggle through jungles and towns to finally reach the prison island of Hemlock...loaded with lots of nasty criminals, of course, and a few terribly wicked beasties and might just provide a clue to finding the Blade of the Sun.
This just grabbed me by the neck and I whipped through it. But don’t think it’s just a romantic adventurous romp. Many huge changes occur and the ending has just enough disgusting creepiness to it to whet your appetite for the next novel.
The third book “A Reign of Rose” is already out and I can’t wait to read it. ~~ Sue Martin
