This is the first official coloring book based on Frank Herbert’s Duneone of the bestselling science fiction novels of all time.
If you are a fan of Dune, then this book is right up your alley. Some collectors may want to have a copy for their Dune collections and who could blame them: the illustrations are intricate and include character studies, locations and scenes inspired by Dune.
If you're a fan and a coloring enthusiast, then you'll really enjoy this book! Tomislav Tomic did fantastic work on capturing the essence of the Dune world, his illustrations are beautiful and full of details for fans to enjoy.
There are forty-four highly detailed original pieces for you to color. I appreciated that they're often intricate enough that we can really get our teeth into the coloring but not quite so much that we don't know where to start.
I also liked that the illustrations were not back to back, and there was a blank page between coloring images, meaning less chance of coloring bleed through to the next image.
I tried out a few different mediums to see what looked and worked best for me; crayon, pencil and marker. My preference was the marker, as I thought it flowed the easiest over the paper. I did add a blank sheet of paper as a blotter between the pages just in case; I'm glad I did, since one of my markers did leave a few bleed drops.
I highly recommend getting a copy, no matter what your medium preference. I think you'll enjoy coloring in the world of Dune. I know I did! ~~ Dee Astell
