Lucia is brought to the castle as a child to be the companion, and eventual lady in waiting, to Lady Kirsi. She has a secret, she is a fairy living among humans who would not accept her if that were known as humans and fairies are in conflict. The King’s mage creates an animated suit of armor as a weapon and through a series of events Lucia and Modeus, the magicked suit of armor, become companions.

This is an interesting start to what presumably will be several volumes detailing the story of Lucia, Kirsi, Modeus as well as Sir Baynard and his squire Peres and, of course, Norrix, the magician that created Modeus. There is a prolog chapter showing how Lucia arrives in the castle and a bonus chapter at the end telling us how Peres came to be Sir Baynard’s squire. The action ends rather abruptly but that is to be expected for what should be several volumes based on a webcomic I will be looking up. The artwork is colorful and striking. I am eager to see the next chapters in the lives of our characters. Highly recommended. ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
