This is the second book in the graphic novel series by Nidhi Chanani.
It's aimed at ages 5-7 years old.
Synopsis:
Kitana and Mack are back!
Mack and all the other sharks are going to a party, but Kitana doesn't feel like shell-ebrating. Then she learns a mysterious shark in the deep ocean hasn't been invited. With Mack's sparkly sharkle lighting the way, the shark princesses set off on their newest adventure into the deep sea!
I had a lot of fun sitting down with my six- and nine-year-old granddaughters, reading this book to them. I gave Mack a silly voice and amused the girls with it. Both girls were also highly amused about the sharks peeing, creating warm currents in the water. My younger granddaughter fell in love with this book and all the characters in it. My older granddaughter felt affinity with Adriana, the Ninja lantern shark who preferred to be alone, comfortable in her calm, quiet, deep ocean.
We enjoyed reading the shark facts at the end of the book and we discussed who their favorite sharks were. They were partial to the pyjama and carpet sharks.
The story is fun and thought-provoking, along with the engaging illustrations. It's well worth sharing with the young readers in your life.
Though this is a sequel, it worked as a standalone read. I plan to get a copy of the first book, Shark Princess, for my six-year-old granddaughter. I know she'll be tickled to find out the backstory of Kitana and Mack. ~~ Dee Astell with input from Aubrey & Paisely Hernandez
