Power of Invisibility
Super You! #2
by Hena Khan, Andrea Menotti
Aimed at 8 - 12 years
Penguin Workshop, $8.99, 288pp
Published: April 2023

Power of Invisibility is the second in the Super You! Pick-your-path adventure series.

The book begins on an ordinary morning in the park, when you hear a piercing sound, which you choose to follow and find out more about. As you get off your bike to investigate, you hear rustling and crunching sounds in the bushes and catch signs of someone trampling through the area, but you don't see anyone around. You find a small silver device and, when you touch it, you turn invisible. The rustling seems to be coming closer as if someone is looking for that device. From here you have a choice to choose what path you would take next.

Different choices lead to different outcomes. Do you have what it takes to survive the challenge or will you turn tail and run from danger?

The chapters here are a little longer than your average pick-your-path book but they're not overly long, so the pace and action don't drag and keep the reader engaged in the challenge.

You can invest as much or as little time into the story, depending on what choices you make. Then you can go back and do it all over again with different choices, whenever you like.

I grew up with this type of gamebook. I enjoyed this adventure and I'm happy to see gamebooks are still around for future reading adventurers to explore and expand their imaginations. ~~ Dee Astell
