This graphic novel is part of The Gingerbread Man is Loose series, aimed at kindergarten through second grade children.
The Gingerbread man was created in a classroom, where he lives and interacts with the students. He is now part of the class and has fun every day.
One fall morning, the teacher pops her head into the classroom and announces that it's Halloween and time for the library costume parade. Everyone played games, ate spider cupcakes and sipped bubbly brew for a frightfully good time!
At the end of the day, one of his classmates invites the Gingerbread Man trick-or-treating with several friends. He gets very excited and digs into the scrap bucket to find bits and bobs to create his costume; he makes pointy ears and adds googly eyes, fangs and wings to become the GingerBat Man!
The graphics are simplistic, colorful and stimulating for young readers. The Gingerbread Man is an endearing character who enjoys classroom life and having adventures with his class mates.
This is a fun book, and I look forward to exploring the rest of the series with my younger grandsons, who I know will enjoy meeting the Gingerbread Man. ~~ Dee Astell
