This book is, as the title suggests, a survival guide, albeit one aimed at real people instead of fanatical preppers. The first part gives an overview of why one needs to prepare and the various types of disasters we could face. The second half of the book is a reprinting of the FEMA “Are You Ready? An In-depth Guide to Citizen Preparedness” which the author has edited to make more user-friendly. Overall, the book is pack with useful information that everyone should know whether the disaster is a blizzard or another terrorist attack. Lots of lists and suggestions make it easier to decide what and how much each family might want to do to be prepared. Recommended. ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
