This is the beginning of a new series from husband and wife authors, Aimee and David Thurlo.  Tom Stuart, owner of The Outpost trading post in New Mexico, has secrets.... and one of them got him killed. When he unexpectedly dies, he leaves the business to his employee, Josephine Buck, who had always considered Tom to be a father figure instead of to his son, Ben. Ben has been away in the military and, prior to his leaving, he and his father had not gotten along well. Recently they were working to get to know each other again, but Tom’s murder puts an end to their reconciliation. Ben assumes the worst of Josephine, believing she must have had an affair with his father otherwise he would not have left the trading post to her, and is determined to get control of the business.   Of course, the fact Jo is an ex-girlfriend who dumped him in high school is also a bone of contention.  Anonymous threats, break-ins and robbery muddy the waters as Jo and Ben try to find out who killed Tom and why. Fans of the Ella Clah novels will enjoy another outing into familiar territory with new characters.  More of a romantic mystery than the Clah novels this is an enjoyable start to a new series. ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
