The Shadow Reader
by Sandy Williams
Ace, $7.99, 307pp
Release Date: October 25, 2011

This appears to be a debut novel.

The Fae are dealing with revolution, McKenzie Lewis has been working with the fae king since she has the Sight and can locate rebels by mapping the shadows left by their escape by translocation. She has also been in love with Kyol, the Fae king’s sword-master. McKenzie wants to retire and have a normal life but is kidnapped by Aren, the rebel leader who wants to change her allegiance. Now she must choose which side she will support and who she will love, if they survive.

The often confused but strong heroine translates between the human and Fae worlds with likeable characters, and some not so likeable but real, and a believable fantasy comes to life leaving the star-crossed lovers to flounder their way through the lies and deception. ~~ Pam Allan
