In the near future, America lost a civil war to the far right-wing Christian movement, which has imposed an evil police state enforced by the Moral Militia. The major cities have been either nuked or evacuated, and the standard of living is declining. This is the second in a Young Adult dystopian series currently named after its first novel, Article 5. The first-person narrator is 17-year-old Ember Miller. She and her love interest Chase Jennings escaped from the Federal Bureau of Reformation in the first book, and have now joined the underground Resistance. In this second book, Ember is falsely labeled a sniper by the government. She and her friends try to survive and join with others. A third novel in the series is also out now, named after a shadow resistance organization: Three. ~~ Mike Griffin
