Nike’s Chariot begins almost immediately where Minerva’s Shield (click here for review) left off. To recap, Bob Norton is the leader of a group of 30 people who survived a mysterious “end of the world” catastrophe. Having gotten the basics of survival taken care of, they now turn to the business of rebuilding a society, searching for other survivors, and trying to figure out just what happened.
The group splits up with Bob leading a smaller band of 12 in search of supplies and survivors. They are ultimately headed for South Dakota and the Black Hills Ordnance Depot which is where he and his son found the coin that seems to have shielded them during the initial catastrophe. Just when it seems to be a straight-forward survival story we are thrown some surprising curves and we end on a cliff-hanger guaranteed to leave the reader eager for more.
This series has it all - chock full of usable survival tips it also gives us a government conspiracy, possible aliens and zombies. Mr. Hart has created a series sure to appeal to a wide range of readers from those who like action adventure to those, like me, who are fans of “end of the world” survival stories as well as those who like their science fiction mixed with a bit of reality. I read this in a day and am eagerly awaiting the next installment. Highly recommended ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
