Suspicious deaths are not usually the concern of Police Constable Peter Grant or the FollyLondon’s police department for supernatural caseseven when they happen at an exclusive party in one of the flats of the most expensive apartment blocks in London. But the daughter of Lady Ty, influential goddess of the Tyburn River, was there, and Peter owes Lady Ty a favor.
Plunged into the alien world of the super-rich, where the basements are bigger than the houses, where the law is something bought and sold on the open market, a sensible young copper would keep his head down and his nose clean.
But this is Peter Grant we’re talking about.
He’s been given an unparalleled opportunity to alienate old friends and create new enemies at the point where the world of magic and that of privilege intersect. Assuming he survives the week…
River goddess Lady Tyburn is calling in the favor PC Peter Grant owes her. Her daughter was present at a suspicions death and Lady Tyburn wants her kept completely out of the investigation. But that turns out to be easier asked than done as it appears Olivia is deeply involved in some magically issues that span the Atlantic and brings US magical mercenaries to call. Add in the reappearance of Lesley and the continued search for the Faceless Man and Peter has his hands full.
These are such quick and delightful reads I am zipping through the series. Peter’s skills are growing, we are learning more about the magical world and its various inhabitants and the delicate dance between the mundane and the magical world. I am ready to dive into the next book “Lies Waiting.” Recommended. ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
